Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldo Ribiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frankie Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aldo Ribiero!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ribiero misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Silva quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Ribiero avoids the head kick by Silva.
Ribiero swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Silva misses with the body kick

and Ribiero counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Silva!
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.
The ground and pound from Ribiero seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ribiero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva tries to buck Ribiero off but Ribiero is having none of it.

You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.
Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ribiero on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ribiero tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ribiero has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Silva is looking to regain half guard here but Ribiero keeps moving and retains side control.

Silva is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ribiero content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Silva is looking to reverse the position.

Silva wants to control but Ribiero postures up.
Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ribiero off and has taken his back!
I really don't envy Ribiero right now.
Ribiero wants to get back to his feet.
Will Silva go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Ribiero breaks Silva's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ribiero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Aldo Ribiero dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Silva misses with a head kick.
Ribiero changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Silva.
Silva throws a leg kick that is checked

and Ribiero counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
Ribiero wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Ribiero controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ribiero working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Silva's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ribiero postures up.
Ribiero distracts Silva with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ribiero got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ribiero has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ribiero slips nicely into half guard.
Silva wants to improve his position but Ribiero is controlling well.
Ribiero has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ribiero wants to pass to mount but Silva is defending the position.
Silva tries to roll over but Ribiero keeps him under control.

Silva is looking for a sweep. Ribiero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Ribiero looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Silva tries to hold on but Ribiero pushes him away.
Silva regains half guard.

Ribiero is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily.
Silva wants to get back to full guard.

Ribiero is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well.
Silva tries to roll over but Ribiero keeps him under control.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Ribiero slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ribiero working some strikes from top position.
Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ribiero stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.
Silva looking to control.
Ribiero is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ribiero passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Silva tries to bench press Ribiero off him but Ribiero keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldo Ribiero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Silva throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Aldo Ribiero has been cut.
A jab from Silva does it's job there.
Silva misses with a head kick.
Ribiero tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Silva lands a nice looking body kick.
Silva throws a nice head kick!
Silva feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Ribiero's calf.

and Ribiero decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Silva can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ribiero controls the pace.
We've been informed that Ribiero has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Silva wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ribiero is now in half guard.
Silva is not content to let Ribiero control the position.
Silva wants to get back to full guard.
Ribiero is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ribiero works his way into side control.
Ribiero should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Silva wants to control but Ribiero postures up.
Silva holds on to Ribiero's head and controls the position momentarily.
Silva tries to improve position but can't.

Ribiero goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Silva rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ribiero's guard! Nice work there by Silva!
Ribiero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ribiero is keeping the position for now.

Ribiero looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribiero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ribiero's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ribiero keeps working.
Aldo Ribiero is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ribiero is pressing down on Silva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Silva wants to control from the top but Ribiero keeps moving.
Ribiero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ribiero walks forward, straight into a front kick from Silva.

I think Ribiero has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
