Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kirby Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ash Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kirby Simon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ash Curtis!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curtis shoots in for a takedown but Simon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And Simon counters with a quick kick to the body but Curtis blocks it.
Simon bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Curtis shoots for a double leg takedown but Simon sprawls well. He's pushed Curtis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Curtis moves away from the strike by Simon.
Simon could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Curtis misses with a double jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Curtis lands a nice looking body kick.

Curtis moves into range and clinches up with Simon.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Simon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Curtis fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kirby Simon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ash Curtis.

Curtis tries to break free but Simon pushes him back against the cage.
Simon goes for a takedown in the clinch but Curtis prevents it.

Curtis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Curtis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Simon pinned against the cage. Simon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Simon wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Curtis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Simon sprawls well. Simon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Curtis gets slowly back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Curtis tries to land a leg kick but Simon saw it coming and moves away.
Curtis tries to bum rush Simon with a series of wild strikes but Simon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Curtis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Simon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Curtis to the mat. Curtis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Simon throws a strike but Curtis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Simon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Simon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Curtis defends it easily.

Simon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Curtis is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Simon.
Simon tries to improve position but can't.

Curtis stands up.
Curtis throws a right and a left that Simon avoids nicely.

Curtis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Simon is fending him off so far but Curtis persists. Nope, Simon circles away and we're back to standing.

Curtis is pressed up against the cage. Simon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Curtis down to the mat. Curtis avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Curtis's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Simon moves into full guard.
Simon has a closed guard, preventing Curtis from standing up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Curtis content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Curtis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Curtis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Simon wants to stand and escape but Curtis is having none of it.

Curtis wants to control from the top but Simon keeps moving.
Simon doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Ash Curtis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Curtis shoots in looking for a takedown. Simon tries to sprawl out of it but Curtis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Simon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Simon tries to counter by clinching up but Curtis breaks away and moves out of range.

Curtis jumps guard but Simon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Simon gets control of Curtis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Simon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kirby Simon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Simon tries to kick Curtis off but Curtis keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Simon has hold of Curtis's hands but Curtis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Simon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Curtis pulls his head out easily.
Simon throws a strike from the bottom but Curtis passes into side control!

Curtis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simon keeps working.
Simon tries to bench press Curtis off him but Curtis keeps the position.
Simon takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Simon tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Simon is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Curtis off and has taken his back!

Well Curtis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
