Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Athan Stamatis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royler Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stamatis comes to the cage accompanied by Lose Yourself. Gracie has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Royler Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
Gracie needs to keep his hands up - Stamatis had a free shot at his head there.
Stamatis lands a jab to Gracie's midsection.
Gracie looks winded!
Stamatis throws a quick inside leg kick.
Stamatis dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Stamatis lands a nice hook to Gracie's body. Gracie takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A solid body kick from Stamatis.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stamatis cracks Gracie with an uppercut from hell and Gracie crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Stamatis's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stamatis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Stamatis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Stamatis distracts Gracie with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stamatis stands up over Gracie, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Stamatis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stamatis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stamatis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Gracie is rocked!
Gracie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stamatis wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gracie is still in real trouble! Can Stamatis finish him?
Stamatis passes Gracie's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stamatis stalling.
Gracie seems to have recovered his senses.
Nice strikes from Stamatis there.
It looks like Stamatis is going to stand back up.
Stamatis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stamatis working over Gracie with some ground and pound. Gracie looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Stamatis is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stamatis lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Gracie quite badly. Gracie pulls Stamatis in close trying to recover. Stamatis postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Gracie on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Gracie doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Athan Stamatis!
In his post fight interview, Athan Stamatis started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
