Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Sydal!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franchise shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Franchise prevents Sydal from standing back up.
Franchise is looking to advance position but Sydal won't allow it.
Franchise not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Franchise wants to take a breather but Sydal is having none of it.
Franchise looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Franchise looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sydal trying to control but Franchise postures up.

Franchise is looking to take a break and control but Sydal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Franchise cracks Sydal with an open hand slap.
Sydal is looking to clinch but Franchise is avoiding it.

Sydal fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Franchise sprawls well initially but Sydal persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Sydal seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Franchise does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Franchise regains full guard. Nicely done.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Franchise has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sydal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sydal gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Franchise keeps the fight on the outside.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Franchise.
Franchise shoots in looking for a takedown. Sydal tries to sprawl out of it but Franchise keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sydal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sydal looks to score with a jab to the body but Franchise is just out of range.

Sydal is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Franchise drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Franchise jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Franchise is pushing down on Sydal's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sydal is fighting to maintain full guard but Franchise has managed to sneak the leg through.
Franchise frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sydal is bucking up trying to escape but Franchise cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Franchise fails to advance to Sydal's back.
Franchise looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Franchise has control of Sydal's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sydal regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Franchise is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sydal can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stevie Franchise dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sydal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Franchise swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Franchise clobbers Sydal with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Franchise misses with a hook. Sydal ducked under it nicely.

Franchise keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

and Franchise counters with a straight right hand.

Sydal is breathing heavily.

Franchise closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Franchise displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Stevie Franchise is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A clash of legs there as Sydal blocks the low kick.
Sydal displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Franchise throws out the jab.
Franchise's corner calls for a 1-2. Franchise obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Franchise moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Franchise tests Sydal's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Franchise goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


Sydal is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sydal drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Franchise clobbers Sydal with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Franchise throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sydal takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Matt Sydal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Franchise bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Franchise wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sydal, who protects the arm well.
Sydal tries to bench press Franchise off him but Franchise keeps the position.

Franchise is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sydal has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sydal taking punishment in the form of punches.
Franchise wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sydal keeps working.

Franchise is staying tight to Sydal's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Franchise lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Sydal tries to bench press Franchise off him but Franchise keeps the position.
Franchise misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Franchise trying to control the position but Sydal is working away.
Franchise is really struggling to control Sydal but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Franchise lands with a straight right. Sydal didn't see that one coming.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sydal tries to move into range but Franchise moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Sydal gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Franchise counters with a one-two to the body.
Stevie Franchise has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Sydal.

Franchise quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Franchise but it's paid off an Sydal is forced to tap! Nice work by Franchise.
