PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Uso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Magnus Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uso comes to the cage accompanied by So Close Now. Scott comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ironfist kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jonathan Uso has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Uso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Magnus Scott!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Uso closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Scott's guard.
Scott tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Uso trying to control but Scott is working from the bottom.
Scott lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uso is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Scott stops Uso from standing up.

Scott wants to control from the top but Uso keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Scott has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Uso shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Scott tries to roll over but Uso keeps him under control.

Uso closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scott did well to prevent Uso getting side control.
Uso is keen to just control but Scott is a slippery customer.

Scott closes the distance and clinches.
Scott has Uso pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Uso manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Scott wants to take the fight to the mat but Uso manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Scott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Uso feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Scott has control of Uso's left arm, preventing Uso from doing any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Uso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Uso uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Scott shoots in but Uso avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jonathan Uso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Magnus Scott.

Uso gets the takedown into side control.
Uso working away.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Uso here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Uso is looking to take a break and control but Scott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Uso scores with a couple of short elbows.
Uso in side control lands a decent elbow.
Uso working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Scott tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Uso presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Uso lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Uso loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Scott scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Uso land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Uso stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonathan Uso!
A relieved looking Jonathan Uso thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Magnus Scott had this to say: 'I'll be back!'.
