Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Dame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dame has chosen Sabendo Que Posso Morrer - Matanza as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Steven Dame!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Locke moves into the clinch.

Locke drags the fight down to the ground.
Dame postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Locke working a defensive guard here.
Dame wants to stand but Locke has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Locke is controlling Dame's posture.
Locke wants to control but Dame passes easily into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Locke is trying to control but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dame trying to pass the guard but Locke defending well.
Locke keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dame throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Dame wants to pass the guard but Locke is defending well.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Locke avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Dame.
Dame looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dame fails with an attempt to clinch.
A leg kick checked by Dame.
Steven Dame seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dame tries to clinch there but Locke circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dame enables Locke to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dame manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Dame is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Locke is looking to stand up but Dame won't let him.
Locke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dame on the ground.
Locke passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dame is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Locke swings around for an armbar but Dame sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Locke's guard.
Locke pulls Dame in to control the position.
Dame trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Locke has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dame can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dame's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Locke looking to control.
Locke tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Locke is trying to keep Dame in close.
Locke wants to get back to his feet but Dame is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Dame wants to get up but he can't break Locke's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Dame looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Dame misses with a takedown attempt - Locke sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Locke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Locke dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Locke pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Locke moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromDame.

Locke fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Dame to the ground. Locke is now in Dame's guard.
Locke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dame is looking for a triangle but Locke pushes his legs off easily.
Locke cracks Dame with a solid left hand.
Dame lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Dame looking to sit in guard and control but Locke gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Dame working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Locke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Dame is tightening it up a little... Locke has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Locke reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Locke taps out! Nice BJJ there by Dame!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Steven Dame!
An out of breath Steven Dame thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
