PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lindsay Singleton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Celciar Quiandora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quiandora has chosen Monster as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Celciar Quiandora told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lindsay Singleton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Celciar Quiandora!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quiandora closes the distance and clinches.
Quiandora has had enough of the clinch but Singleton keeps him there for the moment.

Quiandora jumps guard and drags Singleton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Singleton is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Singleton stands up over Quiandora, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Singleton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Singleton gets to his feet. Quiandora looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Singleton tried to counter with a leg kick but Quiandora avoided it.

Quiandora gets the takedown into side control.
Quiandora really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Singleton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quiandora tries to move to full mount but Singleton actually manages to regain half guard.
Singleton is controlling Quiandora's trapped leg to prevent Quiandora from advancing to side control.

Singleton has one foot on Quiandora's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Singleton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Quiandora to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Quiandora should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Singleton jumps guard and drags Quiandora to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Singleton throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Singleton has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Quiandora off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Quiandora closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quiandora lands in his opponent's guard.

Quiandora drops back, looking for a kneebar! Singleton looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Singleton looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Singleton!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quiandora tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Singleton creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Singleton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Quiandora down.

Celciar Quiandora seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Quiandora manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Singleton on his heels. He'll look to pass Singleton's guard now, I'm sure.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lindsay Singleton dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Quiandora feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Singleton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Singleton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Quiandora's guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Singleton enables Quiandora to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Singleton manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Singleton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Quiandora manages to get himself to full guard.

Quiandora has his foot on Singleton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Singleton works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Singleton has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Quiandora is fighting to break Singleton's control of his arms but Singleton is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Singleton scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Quiandora shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Quiandora showed some decent athleticism there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lindsay Singleton will probably get the nod.

Singleton instigates a clinch.

Singleton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Quiandora uses from the top position.
Singleton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Quiandora has hold of Singleton's hands but Singleton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Singleton is taking a breather. Quiandora says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Singleton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Quiandora doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Singleton.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Quiandora feints and as Singleton raises his hands in defense, Quiandora changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Singleton throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Singleton has closed the distance and engaged Quiandora in a clinch.

Singleton has Quiandora pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Singleton pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Quiandora tumbling to the mat - Singleton dives into Quiandora's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Singleton postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Quiandora to stand up.
Lindsay Singleton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Quiandora throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Singleton was covering up waiting for the punch and Quiandora finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Singleton lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Lindsay Singleton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Singleton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
