The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funkyama goes for a double leg but Talon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Talon continues to drive forward.
Milo Talon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Talon throws a head kick but Funkyama moves out of range.
Talon throws a right hand that Funkyama ducks under and follows up with a left that Funkyama also avoids with ease.
Funkyama circles away from the clinch attempt.
Funkyama changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Talon throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick by Talon misses

and Funkyama counters with a shoot takedown. Talon fights it but they end up in guard.
Funkyama is looking to pass into half guard but Talon pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Talon is in guard.

Talon is sitting in close to Funkyama's body. Funkyama has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Talon is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Talon is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Funkyama.

In his post fight interview, Aoki Funkyama started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
