Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Evgeny Morgoslepov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Batraz Farniev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batraz Farniev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgeny Morgoslepov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Batraz Farniev!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Farniev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Farniev lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Farniev wants to control from the top but Morgoslepov keeps moving.
Farniev throws a big elbow that misses.

Morgoslepov has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Farniev has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Morgoslepov - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Morgoslepov fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Morgoslepov manages to break the clinch.
Farniev takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Batraz Farniev has been cut.
Morgoslepov goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Farniev changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Farniev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Morgoslepov defends well and Farniev ends up having to push Morgoslepov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Farniev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morgoslepov as he jumps to the side.

Farniev changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Farniev shoots in looking for a takedown but Morgoslepov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Farniev's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Farniev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Morgoslepov is looking to escape.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Farniev changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Morgoslepov tries to avoid it but Farniev manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Morgoslepov to the ground. Morgoslepov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Farniev dives in for a single leg takedown but Morgoslepov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A little feinted left hand from Morgoslepov on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Farniev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morgoslepov as he jumps to the side.
It looked like Morgoslepov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Farniev takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Farniev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Morgoslepov can pounce on him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

And Farniev tries to counter it with a takedown but Morgoslepov pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

We've been hearing good reports from Morgoslepov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Morgoslepov seems to have got his legs back now.
Farniev creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Morgoslepov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Farniev scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Morgoslepov is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Farniev can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Batraz Farniev!
Batraz Farniev seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
The defeated Evgeny Morgoslepov had this to say: 'Sorry, Russia'.
