PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Soul Crew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smiff has chosen New born as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tony Smiff will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Smiff finds it's way through Crew's defenses.
Crew ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smiff moves away.

Crew feints and as Smiff raises his hands in defense, Crew changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Crew content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Crew throws a strike but Smiff rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Crew has a closed guard, preventing Smiff from standing up.
Crew looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smiff puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Smiff is thwarting Crew's attempts to control the position.
Crew tries to get to full guard but Smiff has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crew misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Crew slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Crew wants to sweep but no luck.
Crew will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crew looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smiff puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Crew throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Crew gets back to full guard.
Smiff must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Crew working for a triangle but Smiff defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Crew is looking to stand up but Smiff isn't so interested in that idea.

Smiff stands up from Crew's guard - Smiff perhaps looking for a knockout.
Smiff throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Crew is breathing heavily.
Crew swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Smiff.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smiff moves into the clinch.

Smiff breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smiff tries to clinch up but Crew circles away and keeps his distance.
Crew throws a jab when Smiff was well out of range.
Smiff connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Smiff stalks Crew and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Crew's face. Crew staggers backwards, shaken.
Tony Smiff is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A jab from Smiff does it's job there.

Crew is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smiff fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Crew out cold! Brutal finish!
