PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sang Carey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yasin Agca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sang Carey has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sang Carey seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sang Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yasin Agca!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carey is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Agca knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Agca wants to control but Carey postures up.

Carey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Carey throws a strike aimed at the side of Agca's head but Agca avoids it well.
Carey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Agca is working to avoid the ground and pound but Carey connects with a decent elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carey working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Carey cracks Agca with a big right hand but Agca just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Carey throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Agca works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Agca is looking for a sweep. Carey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Carey looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Carey seems to be working for a kimura but Agca defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Agca wants to get back to full guard.

Carey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Agca is just riding it out for now. Carey eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Agca shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carey but Carey pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Agca dives in for a single leg takedown but Carey sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Agca tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carey defends well and Agca ends up having to push Carey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Carey has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Agca clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Carey is persistently looking for the submission but Agca is defending it well.

Carey is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Agca has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Agca is having to fend off submission attempts from Carey, who is looking to sink in the choke. Carey doesn't have the hooks in though and Agca manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Carey is working an open guard so Agca takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Carey fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Agca clinches.

Carey pulls Agca into guard.
Carey wants to sweep but no luck.
Agca wants to stand and escape but instead Carey has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Agca is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Carey postures up.

Carey drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Agca dives on top into guard.

Agca is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Carey trying to keep a closed guard but Agca is proving a slippery customer.
Agca stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carey swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Agca must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Agca looking to sit in guard and control but Carey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Agca has control of Carey's left arm, preventing Carey from doing any damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Agca manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Carey is trying to drag Agca to the mat but Agca just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sang Carey will probably get the nod.

Carey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Agca swivels and escapes.
Agca looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Agca shoots in looking for a takedown but Carey manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Agca's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Carey jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Agca is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carey is defending well for now.
Carey is trying to pull guard but Agca turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Agca prevents the takedown attempt.
Agca drops down looking for an ankle pick but Carey pulls his leg out and moves away.

Carey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Agca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Agca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sang Carey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Yasin Agca comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Carey has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
