PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edward Folayang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Taslim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taslim's choice of entrance music: La Coka Nostra - "Mind Your Business". These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Taslim!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taslim throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Folayang's waist but Folayang gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Taslim off to one side.
Taslim throws a right and a left that Folayang avoids nicely.
Folayang uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Taslim has time to react.
Taslim shoots in but Folayang avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Taslim shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Folayang napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Folayang regains half guard, as Taslim was trying to land strikes.
Taslim is pressing down on Folayang's thigh, looking to free his foot. Folayang is holding on for now.
Taslim thows a huge punch but Folayang dodges it nicely.

Folayang holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Taslim tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Taslim lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Folayang is rocked!

A big strike lands for Taslim! That's really hurt Folayang and he's turned his back - Taslim keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Taslim jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
