The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward connects with a jab.

It looks like Jack Jackson has been cut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jackson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson is looking to advance position but Ward won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ward can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jackson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Micky Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ward avoids it really well and circles away.
It seemed like Ward was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Ward keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
