Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brent Scott!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott feints and as Moreno raises his hands in defense, Scott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Scott lands a couple of digs.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Moreno is keeping the position.
Moreno pulls Scott in close to prevent any damage.
Scott stops Moreno from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moreno wants to stand up but Scott is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Scott wants to clinch up but Moreno keeps it at a distance.
Moreno appears to be looking for a big counter.

Moreno scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Scott has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moreno is working away from the top position though.
Scott has a hand on Moreno's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Moreno takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Moreno wants to finish this one by submission but Scott is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Moreno.

Scott is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Moreno is trying to stick to Scott's back but Scott is turning into Moreno. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Moreno's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Scott.

Moreno has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Scott has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Moreno ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Moreno no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Moreno will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Moreno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Moreno is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Scott defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Moreno really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Scott throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Moreno tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Scott is in Moreno's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Jay Moreno will probably get the nod.

Scott closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moreno to the mat! Moreno manages to get full guard.

Moreno throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Scott escapes and throws Moreno's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Moreno wants to control but Scott postures up.

Scott is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Moreno knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moreno keeps working.

Moreno manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Scott prevents Moreno from standing back up.
Moreno controlling the position well.
Scott not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
It looks like Scott is going to stand back up.
Scott is trying to control the action in half guard but Moreno is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Moreno wants to control but Scott passes easily into half guard.
Brent Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.

Scott scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Moreno is refusing to be controlled, as Scott sits in half guard.
Moreno blocking the ground and pound attempt from Scott.
Scott seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Moreno does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Scott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Moreno is looking for a sweep.
Scott misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Scott has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Scott tries to move to mount but Moreno blocks the move with his legs.
Scott wants to stand but Moreno is controlling his arm.

Moreno dodges the ground and pound from Scott.
Moreno is looking to regain half guard here but Scott keeps moving and retains side control.

Scott decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Scott closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Scott looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Scott blocks the strikes from Moreno.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brent Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Moreno is staying active underneath Scott, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

and Moreno counters with a single leg into guard. Scott didn't expect that.

Moreno is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Scott has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Moreno has passed into side control.

Brent Scott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Scott has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
