PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Bentner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Regan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bentner kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is My Dick. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Bentner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Larry Regan!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bentner checks a leg kick.
Bentner slips a straight right by Regan.
Bentner fails in his attempt to clinch.
Regan lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Regan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Regan throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Bentner to counter with a crisp jab.
Regan misses with a body punch
and Bentner counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Bentner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Regan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bentner misses with a two punch combination.

Regan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bentner to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Regan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Regan wants to control but Bentner passes easily into half guard.

Regan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Regan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bentner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bentner's back!
Bentner wants to get back to his feet.
Regan throwing sloppy strikes.

Bentner is having to fend off submission attempts from Regan, who is looking to sink in the choke. Regan doesn't have the hooks in though and Bentner manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Regan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bentner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Regan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bentner working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Bentner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Regan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bentner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Bentner lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Regan has control of Bentner's left arm, preventing Bentner from doing any damage.

Bentner won't allow Regan to sweep him here.
Regan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bentner keeping hold of Regan's head, controlling as best he can.
Regan is looking to take a break and control but Bentner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Regan is pressing down on Bentner's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bentner is holding on for now.
Bentner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Bentner.

Bentner has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Regan off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Regan throws a right and a left that Bentner avoids nicely.
Bentner changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Bentner drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bentner tries for a kimura but Regan is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Bentner dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Regan lands a right hook to the body.
Donk. Bentner catches Regan right on the button with a cross.

Bentner closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've been hearing that Bentner has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Regan is pressing down on Bentner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Regan is on top in guard.

Regan wants to sweep but no luck.

Bentner with a flurry of punches that miss.
Regan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bentner manages to get himself to full guard.

Regan stops Bentner from standing up.
Regan throws an elbow that misses. Bentner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Regan's guard. Nice move by Bentner!

Regan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Our spies down at at Great Bash Heel inform us that Regan has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Regan takes one on the button.
Bentner takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Regan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bentner manages to avoid it.
Bentner steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Regan.
Bentner wants to clinch up but Regan keeps it at a distance.

Bentner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Regan tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bentner presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Bentner lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bentner lands a big elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bentner postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Regan in real trouble here! The ref calls for Regan to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nick Bentner!
A very excited looking Nick Bentner made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
