Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Darryl Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Brace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phil Brace looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darryl Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Brace!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brace swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Brace looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Higgins gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Higgins manages to break the clinch.
Brace tries to clinch but Higgins moves out of range.
Higgins tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Higgins scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Higgins is nestled in close to Brace, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Higgins stops Brace from getting back to his feet.

Higgins is trying to work for a kimura but Brace is defending well.
Brace is staying active underneath Higgins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Higgins is taking a breather. Brace says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Higgins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Brace has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Higgins is working away from the top position though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Higgins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Higgins throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brace was covering up waiting for the punch and Higgins finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Higgins stays in close to Brace's body and controls the position.
Brace is looking to stand up but Higgins isn't so interested in that idea.
Higgins trying to control the position from guard on top but Brace is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Higgins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Higgins controls from within his opponent's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Higgins makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Higgins stands up over Brace, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
We've been informed that Brace has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Higgins lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Higgins lands a couple of digs.
Higgins wants to control from the top but Brace keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Higgins pushes Brace up against the cage in a clinch.

Higgins closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brace's guard.
Higgins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Higgins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Brace is refusing to be controlled, as Higgins sits in half guard.

Higgins takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Higgins lands a nice short elbow.

Brace is staying active underneath Higgins, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Higgins seems to be looking for submissions.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Brace is refusing to be controlled, as Higgins sits in half guard.

Higgins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brace's guard.

Brace takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Higgins can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brace is looking to escape.

Higgins is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Brace is surviving well by controlling Higgins's body position as best he can.

Brace is in a horrible position here. Higgins smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Higgins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brace is squirming around, avoiding Higgins's attempts to control the action.
Higgins lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
