Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Octavius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julius Octavius!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Octavius misses with a low kick.
A counter left hand to the body from Johnson misses its target.
Octavius lands a high kick!
Johnson tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Octavius counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Johnson tries to get to full guard but Octavius has control of the leg.
Octavius passes the guard and advances to mount!
Octavius tries to control but Johnson wriggling away.

Octavius wants to finish this one by submission but Johnson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Octavius.
My spies in Hell's Balls NY Hellcademy inform me that Octavius has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Johnson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Octavius working for a submission but Johnson is keeping him at bay.

Johnson gets back to half guard.

Octavius is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Octavius eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Octavius pulls his head out easily.
Octavius has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Octavius cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Octavius is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Octavius wants to take Johnson's back here but Johnson is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Octavius lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Johnson hang on?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Octavius lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Octavius trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Octavius has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Johnson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Johnson is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Octavius jumps into side control!
Johnson tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Octavius works his way to his opponent's back.
Octavius has the hooks in. Johnson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Octavius working for a choke but Johnson is defending well.

Johnson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Octavius's arms.
Johnson is really stuck here.
Octavius biding his time, looking for the opening.

Octavius is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Octavius is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Octavius gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Octavius gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Octavius apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Octavius connects with a solid leg kick.
Johnson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Octavius has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Julius Octavius has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Octavius sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Octavius is avoiding it.
Octavius explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Octavius counters with an inside leg kick.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Octavius feints a counter leg kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Octavius to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Octavius tries to free his leg and advance position but Johnson is retaining full guard.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Octavius gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Julius Octavius dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Julius Octavius's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Johnson tries to clinch but Octavius is having none of it.
Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Octavius circles away.
Octavius connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Johnson is looking to clinch.
Octavius was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Johnson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Octavius counters with a thumping low kick.
Octavius tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Johnson forces Octavius back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson throws a head punch that misses.
Octavius has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Octavius takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Octavius breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A solid leg kick lands there for Octavius.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice body kick there by Octavius.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Octavius circles away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Octavius paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Johnson prevents Octavius from moving into mount.

Octavius goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Johnson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Octavius's guard! Nice work there by Johnson!
Octavius looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there.

Johnson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Johnson throws a big right hand that misses.

Octavius pushes a forearm under Johnson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Johnson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Julius Octavius!
