PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lance Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Cristobal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorge Cristobal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lance Fisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorge Cristobal!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fisher throws a body shot but no joy.
And Cristobal tries to counter it with a takedown but Fisher pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Cristobal misses with a kick to the body.
Cristobal tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fisher swivels and escapes.

Cristobal closes the distance and clinches.
Fisher working Cristobal over with knees to the body.
Fisher is working for takedown but Cristobal is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cristobal on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Fisher gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cristobal regains guard.
Cristobal seems keen to control Fisher's posture.
Cristobal wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cristobal is trying to hold Fisher in close to prevent damage but Fisher has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cristobal manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Cristobal had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fisher defends it easily.

Cristobal manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fisher manages to get himself to full guard.

Fisher looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cristobal throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Fisher controls Cristobal momentarily but Cristobal frees himself.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Cristobal postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Fisher pushes Cristobal up against the cage in a clinch.

Fisher is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cristobal can't fight it off and eventually Fisher manages to take the fight to the floor. Cristobal looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cristobal is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cristobal doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cristobal is pulling down on Fisher's head. It's preventing any offense from Fisher, at least for the moment.

Let's hope that Cristobal has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Fisher distracts Cristobal with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Fisher looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Cristobal takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Fisher wants to stand but Cristobal is controlling his arm.
Cristobal seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cristobal pushes Fisher away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fisher gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Cristobal can't do much from the bottom here.

A lull in the action here.
Fisher tries to advance to mount but Cristobal denies him.

Cristobal might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Fisher haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cristobal tries for a takedown but Fisher sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cristobal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Cristobal fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fisher avoids it really well and circles away.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Fisher closes the distance and clinches.

Fisher manages to pull guard.
Cristobal throwing strikes but missing.
Cristobal is looking to work some ground and pound but Fisher has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cristobal wants to control from the top but Fisher keeps moving.
Cristobal looking to sit in guard and control but Fisher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cristobal working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fisher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fisher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fisher wants to get up but he can't break Cristobal's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Fisher has Cristobal pressed against the cage, preventing Cristobal from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Fisher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cristobal takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fisher crunches a lovely knee into Cristobal's ribcage.

Fisher turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fisher manages to end up in side control.
Fisher wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cristobal keeps working.
Cristobal is trying to control Fisher's posture but Fisher avoids it.

Fisher seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cristobal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cristobal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fisher is working away from the top position though.
