PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noz Gurreff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirt has chosen Shimmy Shimmy Ya as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Noz Gurreff has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Noz Gurreff seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Noz Gurreff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirt McGirt!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Gurreff. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gurreff.
Gurreff throws a big shot that misses.
Gurreff uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
McGirt throws out a powerful jab.
Gurreff just misses with a punch to the body.
McGirt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McGirt takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Gurreff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gurreff enables McGirt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gurreff manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McGirt trying to control the position from guard on top but Gurreff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gurreff keeping full guard, as McGirt tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGirt wants to control from the top but Gurreff keeps moving.

McGirt thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McGirt trying to control but Gurreff is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McGirt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gurreff has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGirt has managed to get both his arms back between Gurreff's legs - danger averted.

McGirt stands up and waves to Gurreff to follow him.
McGirt takes a shot right to the bread basket.
McGirt uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gurreff.
Gurreff misses the jab.
Gurreff punishes McGirt's body with a nice straight punch.
McGirt takes one to the side of the head.
McGirt connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
McGirt keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gurreff.
McGirt throws a head kick but Gurreff moves out of range.
Gurreff is looking to counter punch.
Gurreff defends well against a solid takedown attempt from McGirt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gurreff darts in and clinches McGirt up against the cage.
Gurreff tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McGirt's elbow.
Gurreff tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
McGirt wants to take the fight to the mat but Gurreff manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Gurreff fails to land.
McGirt jumps guard but Gurreff turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Noz Gurreff has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dirt McGirt.

McGirt turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gurreff is trying to control McGirt's posture but McGirt avoids it.

McGirt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gurreff has escaped the position, nice work there.

McGirt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gurreff regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gurreff trying to control but McGirt postures up.

McGirt in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gurreff tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from McGirt!
