PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Genaro Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Genaro Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Walker!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carr avoids it really well and circles away.
Carr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Walker has taken the fight to the clinch.

Walker pulls Carr into guard.
Carr trying to stand up but can't free himself from Walker's guard.
Walker throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carr scoring with punches to the head and body.

Carr gets to his feet. Walker looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
A leg kick checked by Walker.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker throws a sloppy head kick and Carr moves out of range easily.
Carr is looking to clinch.
Carr fails with an attempt to clinch.
Walker circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carr slaps away a takedown attempt from Walker, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Genaro Carr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Walker.
Walker moves out of range as Carr throws a body kick.

Carr dives in and scores a takedown into Walker's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Walker holds on and takes a little breather.

Walker pushes Carr off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Walker shoots in for a takedown but Carr shows good takedown defense.
Carr was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Carr throws a chopping leg kick but Walker manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Walker tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Carr tests Walker's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Walker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Walker somewhat.
Walker fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carr sprawls well. Carr wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Carr wants to clinch.
Walker swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Carr uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Walker has time to react.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carr as he jumps to the side.
Carr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Walker circles away.
Walker looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walker tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carr defends well and Walker ends up having to push Carr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Walker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Carr throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walker's waist but Walker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carr off to one side.
Walker doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Walker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carr defends it nicely.
Walker throws a right hand that misses
and Carr counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carr looks to clinch
enabling Walker to counter with a crisp jab.
Walker fails with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Genaro Carr dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A jab from Carr misses.
Carr throws a jab but it's blocked by Walker.
Carr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Walker scores with a kick to the body.
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Carr manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walker scores with a hook to the body. Carr takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Carr lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Walker closes the distance and pushes Carr back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker lands an elbow that stopped Carr in his tracks for a moment.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Walker takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Carr tries to break the clinch but Walker is controlling the position.

Carr fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carr letting Walker take a breather here.

Walker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Carr lands with a thumping leg kick.
Walker shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Walker takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Walker dips to his left and cracks Carr with an uppercut!

Walker closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Walker keeps control of Carr as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Walker as Carr tries to tie him up.
Carr is trying to break the clinch but Walker is controlling him.
Carr is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carr wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Walker lands a nice knee to the body.

Walker pulls guard effortlessly.
Carr preventing the sweep.
Walker trying to strike off his back.
Walker is pulling down on Carr's head to control his posture.
Carr will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Walker has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carr is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Walker.

Carr swings around for an armbar but Walker sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Carr's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Walker sitting in guard here, content to control.
Carr is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Walker is stalling in the full guard.
Walker slips nicely into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Walker decides to return to a standing position.
Walker wants to clinch.
Nick Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Walker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carr tries to counter with a takedown but Walker is quick to defend against it.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carr as he jumps to the side.
Genaro Carr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Walker.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carr tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Walker unleashes a big counter combination but Carr bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Walker lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Walker shoots in but no luck this time.
Carr moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Carr darts in looking for a takedown but Walker gets double underhooks and turns Carr into the cage.

Walker moves into the clinch successfully.
Walker looking for a takedown.
Carr working hard to break the clinch.
Carr looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Walker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nick Walker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carr to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Walker looking for a guillotine here but Carr defends easily.

Walker looking for a sweep. Not yet Walker, not yet.
Walker is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Walker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Carr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Walker striking off his back but it's not causing Carr any problems.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Walker doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Walker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Walker blocks a jab.
Carr shoots in for a takedown but Walker shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Walker feints the counter takedown.
Walker shoots in but no luck this time.
Genaro Carr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Walker.
Walker fails with a takedown attempt.
Walker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Walker throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Carr counters with a single leg into guard. Walker didn't expect that.
Carr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walker on the ground.

Walker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carr defends it easily.
Carr with a flurry of punches that miss.

Walker working for a triangle but Carr defends it easily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Walker holds on and takes a little breather.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Carr wants to stand but Walker is controlling his posture from full guard.

Carr avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walker pulls Carr in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
Genaro Carr showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Carr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
