The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira wants to clinch.
George went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

George is looking to take a break and control but Vieira is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vieira can do anything to dispel that myth.

Vieira is squirming around, avoiding George's attempts to control the action.
George is looking to stand but George has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Vieira really doesn't want to stay on the ground with George. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vieira is covering up but some of the strikes from George are getting through and doing damage.
Vieira turns into George and is now in his guard.
Vieira throws an elbow that misses. George uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vieira's guard. Nice move by George!

Vieira is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and George defends it well.
George looks like he's trying to stand up.

George is looking for a sweep. Vieira is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
George is looking to control Vieira's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can George avoid being mounted?

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Geoff George.
