The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smash shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shelton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Shelton can't keep his opponent in guard - Smash advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Smash wants to free his trapped foot but Shelton is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Smash is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shelton is just riding it out for now. Smash eventually gives up the hold.
Smash is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shelton has managed to free his arm - good work.
Shelton desperately trying to maintain half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
