PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tony Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Myers Hockles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montana comes to the cage accompanied by Push it to the Limit. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Montana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Myers Hockles!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana tests Hockles's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Montana. Hockles does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hockles lands a nice looking kick to the body. Montana takes a step back to recover.
Hockles lets loose with a powerful body kick. Montana will feel that in the morning.
Hockles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hockles fakes the leg kick and cracks Montana in the body.
Montana avoids the body shot from Hockles.

Hockles tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Montana takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Montana lands with an uppercut that bounces Hockles off the cage and back into range.
Montana is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Montana dives in for a single leg takedown but Hockles sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hockles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hockles closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hockles not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hockles connects with a nice short shot to Montana's temple.

Hockles throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Montana works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hockles told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Montana had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hockles defends it easily.
Hockles in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Hockles is looking to work some ground and pound but Montana has wrist control.
Hockles postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Montana is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hockles defends well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hockles takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Montana tries a head kick but it misses.
Hockles throws a sloppy head kick and Montana moves out of range easily.
Montana appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Montana decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hockles's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Montana looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hockles makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hockles.

Montana throws a strike but Hockles rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Montana is trying to control the position but Hockles postures up.

Hockles throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Montana working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hockles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hockles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A close second round but Myers Hockles will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Montana went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Montana lands with a hook. Hockles tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Montana lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hockles has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hockles and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

I was talking to Montana's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

A frustrated look appears on Montana's face as he tries to break the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Hockles keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Montana's efforts to push away.
Montana blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Hockles pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Montana dives in and grabs Hockles's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hockles pushes down on Montana's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Montana. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Myers Hockles is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Myers Hockles comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hockles has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
