PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Boyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igeu Kabesa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Don Boyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Igeu Kabesa!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kabesa looks to land a body kick but Boyer moved away.
Boyer wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kabesa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boyer.
And Kabesa responds with a good body kick, but Boyer manages to step out the way in time.
Boyer has his takedown stuffed

and Kabesa counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kabesa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Boyer walks away with a smile on his face. Kabesa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nice sprawl there from Kabesa as Boyer shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Boyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kabesa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Boyer was covering up waiting for the punch and Kabesa finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kabesa is looking to stand up but Boyer won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boyer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Kabesa prevents Boyer from getting back to his feet.

Boyer has his foot on Kabesa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kabesa works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kabesa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Boyer's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kabesa tries to pass to full mount but Boyer defends it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boyer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kabesa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boyer has Kabesa pressed against the cage, preventing Kabesa from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Kabesa has Boyer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Boyer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kabesa is trying to trip Boyer. He has hold of a leg but Boyer is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kabesa persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kabesa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boyer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Don Boyer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kabesa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Boyer.
Boyer really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Kabesa drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Boyer gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kabesa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boyer's guard.

Igeu Kabesa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kabesa is looking to clinch but Boyer is avoiding it.

Kabesa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Boyer quickly recovers to half guard.

Kabesa is looking for a kimura but Boyer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kabesa to get the leverage.

Kabesa is working for a kimura here but Boyer manages to reverse the position and he's now in Kabesa's guard.

Kabesa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kabesa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Boyer uses from the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kabesa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boyer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kabesa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kabesa tries to pull guard but Boyer holds him up against the cage and eventually Kabesa drops back down to his feet.

Kabesa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Boyer blocks it with crossed arms.
Kabesa is pushing Boyer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Kabesa jumps guard but Boyer stands there with Kabesa around his waist. Kabesa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Boyer tries to circle away but Kabesa has him pinned against the cage.
Kabesa wants to break free but Boyer has control.

Kabesa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Boyer to keep the fight standing.
Don Boyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Igeu Kabesa.
Boyer tries to break free but Kabesa pushes him back against the cage.
Don Boyer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Igeu Kabesa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Kabesa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
