Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksey Olqynik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Petrovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksey Olqynik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stefan Petrovic!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Olqynik fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Petrovic to the ground. Olqynik is now in Petrovic's guard.
Petrovic is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Olqynik manages to get to full guard.
Petrovic passes into half guard.
Petrovic trying to control the action but Olqynik is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olqynik is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Petrovic is trying to control the action in half guard but Olqynik is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Petrovic is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Petrovic is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Olqynik has managed to free his arm - good work.

Olqynik is trying to control the position but Petrovic postures up.
Petrovic wants to control from the top but Olqynik keeps moving.
Petrovic throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Petrovic throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Olqynik works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Petrovic is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Petrovic prevents Olqynik from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Petrovic looks to score with a jab to the body but Olqynik is just out of range.

Olqynik moves into range and clinches up with Petrovic.

Olqynik ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Olqynik no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Petrovic not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Petrovic throws a lazy right hand but Olqynik sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Olqynik is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Petrovic.
Olqynik drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Olqynik gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Olqynik turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Petrovic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Olqynik stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Olqynik darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Petrovic wants to improve his position but Olqynik is controlling well.
Petrovic is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are battling for position here. Petrovic manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Petrovic controls Olqynik momentarily but Olqynik frees himself.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Olqynik bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Petrovic tries to bench press Olqynik off him but Olqynik keeps the position.

You can see the frustration on Petrovic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Olqynik remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Petrovic is looking for a sweep.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Aleksey Olqynik overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Olqynik is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petrovic can do to turn this around?
Petrovic can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Olqynik controls the pace.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Petrovic misses with a hook.

Olqynik drives through and clinches with Petrovic against the cage.

Olqynik is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Petrovic can't fight it off and eventually Olqynik manages to take the fight to the floor. Petrovic looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Petrovic has his foot on Olqynik's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Olqynik works his way back into a safe position though.

Petrovic working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Olqynik doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Olqynik manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Olqynik is looking to take a break and control but Petrovic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Olqynik shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Petrovic is trying to defend but Olqynik finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Olqynik, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
