These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercer clinches.
Weston is trying to force a seperation but Mercer has the dominant position.

Weston can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mercer controls the pace.

Mercer stands up and waves to Weston to follow him.

Weston is trying to pull guard but Mercer has him pressed against the cage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dakota Weston. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Weston is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Weston ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Weston no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Weston is working an open guard so Mercer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Clay Mercer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mercer fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Weston loads up on a big right hand but Mercer slips the punch.
Weston tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Weston goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looks like Clay Mercer has been cut.

Mercer lands a big right hand that sends Weston crashing to the mat! Mercer stays standing though and waves Weston back to his feet!

Weston walks straight into a right hand from Mercer - that's dropped him! Mercer jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Weston from any more punishment! Weston complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
