Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Oneill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Welton Gustavo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Welton Gustavo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danny Oneill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Welton Gustavo !
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gustavo .
Gustavo misses with a takedown attempt

and Oneill counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gustavo trying to control but Oneill postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Oneill lands a nice short elbow.
Oneill prevents Gustavo from improving his position.
Oneill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gustavo keeps trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gustavo tries to kick Oneill off but Oneill keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Gustavo tries to get to full guard but Oneill has control of the leg.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Gustavo is trying to stand up here but Oneill is controlling him well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gustavo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Oneill is fending him off so far but Gustavo persists. Nope, Oneill circles away and we're back to standing.

Gustavo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Oneill has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gustavo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Gustavo is working for takedown but Oneill is calmly controlling the position for now.
Oneill throws a head punch that misses.
Oneill on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Gustavo decides to pull guard.

Oneill loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Oneill got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gustavo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Oneill has managed to get both his arms back between Gustavo 's legs - danger averted.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gustavo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Oneill looking to stall.
A head punch on the inside from Oneill fails to land.
Gustavo drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Oneill.
Horrible takedown attempt by Gustavo or perhaps it was just good defense by Oneill, which made it look bad.

Gustavo moves into the clinch.
Oneill is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gustavo can do to turn this around?
Oneill tries to circle away but Gustavo has him pinned against the cage.

Gustavo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gustavo wants to sweep here but Oneill controlling him for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gustavo can do anything to dispel that myth.
Oneill makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Oneill loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gustavo is looking to stand up but Oneill isn't so interested in that idea.

Oneill throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gustavo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gustavo wants to stand and escape but Oneill is having none of it.

Gustavo is wriggling around but Oneill manages to pass to half guard.
Oneill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gustavo wants to get back to full guard.

A close second round but Welton Gustavo will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gustavo is defended easily by Oneill.
Gustavo dives in and grabs Oneill's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oneill pushes down on Gustavo 's head and hops out.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Oneill. Gustavo shrugs it off though.
Welton Gustavo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gustavo lands a nice hook to Oneill's body. Oneill takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Oneill lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Gustavo misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Oneill.
Gustavo tries to land knees in the clinch but Oneill avoids the damage to the body.
Oneill tries to stall but Gustavo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Oneill is looking to control Gustavo 's arms but Gustavo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Oneill has his back to the cage.

Oneill is trying to keep Gustavo in close.
Gustavo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oneill. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oneill looking for a sweep. Not yet Oneill, not yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gustavo controls from within his opponent's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gustavo looking to sit in guard and control but Oneill gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Danny Oneill.
I think Oneill has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
