Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gale Roy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Homero Cavalcante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gale Roy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Homero Cavalcante!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roy shoots in but no luck this time.
Roy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cavalcante swivels and escapes.
A solid body kick from Cavalcante.
Nice sprawl there from Cavalcante as Roy shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gale Roy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cavalcante clinches up with Roy and pushes him back against the cage.
Roy misses with an elbow over the top.
Roy can't find room to land a body shot as Cavalcante controls the action.

Cavalcante works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Roy wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Roy tries to bench press Cavalcante off him but Cavalcante keeps the position.

Roy doesn't manage to clinch there - Cavalcante circles away.

Roy gets caught flat footed, as Cavalcante shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Roy can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cavalcante controls the pace.
It looks like Cavalcante might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Roy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cavalcante on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Cavalcante scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Roy tries to roll over but Cavalcante keeps him under control.

Cavalcante slows the pace down in half guard.
Roy is trying to get back to full guard.
Cavalcante not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Roy wants to sweep but Cavalcante has passed to side control!

Homero Cavalcante dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Cavalcante moves into the clinch.

Cavalcante jumps into guard, dragging Roy to the mat.
Roy controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Cavalcante working for a triangle but Roy defends it easily.
Cavalcante is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Roy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cavalcante, up you get!

Cavalcante fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Roy, pushing him back against the cage.

Cavalcante decides to pull guard.
Cavalcante wants to sweep here but Roy controlling him for the moment.

Cavalcante pushes Roy off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Roy throws a punch but it's blocked by Cavalcante.

Cavalcante manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Cavalcante has a closed guard, preventing Roy from standing up.
Cavalcante pulls Roy in close to prevent any damage.
Roy throws an elbow that misses. Cavalcante uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roy's guard. Nice move by Cavalcante!

Cavalcante is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Roy wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cavalcante works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cavalcante performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Cavalcante prevents Roy from improving his position.
Roy wants to get back to his feet.
Cavalcante moves into full mount! Roy won't be happy about that!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cavalcante content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cavalcante throws some wild stikes that Roy manages to avoid easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Roy is trying desperately to improve position.
Cavalcante content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Homero Cavalcante showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Cavalcante connects with a high kick.


It looks like Gale Roy has been cut.
Roy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cavalcante lands a brutal head kick. Roy looks out on his feet and Cavalcante throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
