PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spanky Spangler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Spangler might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to WHITE LIGHTNING-by AB. Sam Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
An attempted straight right counter from Spangler misses the target.
Smith is looking to clinch.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Smith misses with a head kick.
Spangler throws a one two combo.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spangler tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Spangler's guard.

Spangler looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Spangler is pulling down on Smith's head. It's preventing any offense from Smith, at least for the moment.
Smith won't allow Spangler to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Spangler makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Spangler connects with a crisp jab.

Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Spangler is just out of range.

Spangler moves into range and clinches up with Smith.
Smith wants to break the clinch but can't.

Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Spangler tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.
Smith is trying to drag Spangler to the mat but Spangler just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Spanky Spangler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Smith.
Smith looks winded!
Smith is trying to push Spangler away but Spangler has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Spangler paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Smith tries for a takedown but Spangler circles away easily
and Spangler counters with a one-two to the body.

It looks like Sam Smith has been cut.

Spangler lands a left and a right that send Smith crashing to the mat, dazed. Spangler thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Spangler definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Spangler catches Smith with a right, a left, a right. It's raining punches and Smith forgot an umbrella! Another punch and he's down. This one is over!
