The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Townsend paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Townsend lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Gracie has Townsend up against the cage in a clinch.
Townsend is trying to push Gracie away but Gracie has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Townsend wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Gracie tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Gracie wants to get back to striking at distance but Townsend won't allow it.
Townsend utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Townsend is trying to break the clinch but Gracie is controlling him.
Gracie has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Townsend is trying to keep an underhook but Gracie manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gracie connects with a nice short shot to Townsend's temple.
Gracie wants to free his trapped foot but Townsend is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Townsend keeps working.
Gracie slows the pace down in half guard.
Gracie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gracie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gracie has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Townsend defend it? Gracie steps over the head and cranks it - Townsend is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Gracie!
