Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Jonson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aamu Virtanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmy Jonson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aamu Virtanen!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Virtanen gets tackled into the cage by Jonson. Jonson maintains the clinch.
Virtanen tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jonson scores with a shoulder strike.
Jonson lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Jonson breaks the clinch.

Virtanen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jonson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Virtanen tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Virtanen trying to control the action but Jonson is working from the bottom.
Jonson prevents Virtanen from improving position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Virtanen content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jonson wants to control but Virtanen postures up.
Jonson is trying to improve his position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Virtanen tries to stand but Jonson is controlling his head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Virtanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Virtanen lands in his opponent's guard.
Virtanen controlling from the top position.
Jonson looking for a sweep. Not yet Jonson, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Virtanen sitting in guard here, content to control.
Virtanen wanted to stand there but Jonson had control of the position.
Virtanen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jonson's guard.
Virtanen is controlling the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Virtanen wants to stand up but Jonson is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Virtanen takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Jonson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jonson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jonson is breathing heavily.
Jonson looks to land a combination but Virtanen avoids it well.
Virtanen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jonson defends well and Virtanen ends up having to push Jonson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Virtanen shoots in and bounces Jonson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Virtanen passes Jonson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Aamu Virtanen will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Virtanen gets a double leg takedown into Jonson's guard.

Virtanen wants to stand but Jonson is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Virtanen passes into half guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jonson trying to control here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jonson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jimmy Jonson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Virtanen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Virtanen in particular looking to stall.
Aamu Virtanen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jonson is trying to control but can't.

Virtanen maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Jonson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Virtanen has cracked it and Jonson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Virtanen!
