Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Steel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steel has Cruz up against the cage in a clinch.

Steel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Steel tries for a takedown but Cruz circles away easily

and Cruz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cruz.
Cruz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cruz looking to sit in guard and control but Steel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cruz is trying to keep Steel in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cruz is trying to control the position but Steel postures up.
Steel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cruz on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Cruz trying to keep a closed guard but Steel is proving a slippery customer.
Steel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cruz wants to improve his position but instead Steel has moved into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cruz manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Cruz seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Cruz controls Steel momentarily but Steel frees himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cruz is on top in guard.


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cruz slips nicely into half guard.
Cruz passes the guard and advances to mount!

Steel is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Cruz locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Steel is forced to tap!
