The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mattos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mattos wants it to stay on the feet.
Hodge misses with a takedown attempt - Mattos sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mattos looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Mattos instigates a clinch.
Hodge could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hodge drags the fight down to the ground.
Hodge is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mattos has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hodge is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Hodge tries to reverse the position but Mattos maintains control.
Hodge tries to lock up and control but Mattos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mattos lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Hodge is looking to improve his position but Mattos isn't that keen on the idea.
