PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ace Ventura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pencil Neck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neck comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rolling Stones - Paint it black kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Pencil Neck enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ace Ventura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pencil Neck!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neck misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ventura darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Ventura is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Neck doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ventura.

Ventura is looking for a kimura but Neck is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ventura to get the leverage.

Ventura is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Neck is just riding it out for now. Ventura eventually gives up the hold.

Ventura is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Neck as he works his way to full guard.

Neck wants to stand and escape but Ventura is having none of it.

Ventura postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Neck is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ventura, into his guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neck is trying to stick to Ventura's back but Ventura is turning into Neck. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Neck's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ventura.

Ventura drops back looking for a leg! Neck is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Neck manages to kick Ventura off! Ventura jumps back into Neck's guard.
Ventura is fighting to break Neck's control of his arms but Neck is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Neck is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ventura had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Neck is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ventura Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Neck's back instead.

Ventura seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Neck's chin but Neck turns very nicely into Ventura's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Neck.

Pencil Neck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
