PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mason Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan comes to the cage accompanied by Assasains. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mason Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Williams!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Morgan both land. Nice combination.

Morgan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Williams tries to strike from the bottom.
Williams is looking to sweep but instead, Morgan has passed into half guard.
Williams wants to control but Morgan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Morgan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Morgan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Morgan wants to pass to mount but Williams is defending the position.
Williams trying to get back to full guard but Morgan takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Williams is squirming around, avoiding Morgan's attempts to control the action.
Williams tries to hold on but Morgan pushes him away.
Williams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Morgan landing strikes from the mount and Williams is in trouble!

Williams is looking to improve his position but Morgan isn't that keen on the idea.
Morgan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Williams slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Morgan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Morgan postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Williams to stand up.
Williams gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Morgan counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard.

Morgan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Williams should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Williams wants to stand up but Morgan is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Morgan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Morgan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Morgan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Williams, who protects the arm well.
Williams wants to control but Morgan postures up.

Williams is in close to Morgan's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Williams decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Morgan closes the distance and clinches.
Williams has a couple of punches blocked by Morgan.
Come on Morgan - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Williams is working for takedown but Morgan is calmly controlling the position for now.

Morgan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Morgan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Morgan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morgan stopping the sweep attempt from Williams.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason Morgan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Morgan lands with a slapping head kick.

Morgan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Williams, pushing him back against the cage.
Williams tries to pull guard but Morgan holds him up against the cage and eventually Williams drops back down to his feet.
Williams misses with a punch on the inside.

Morgan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Morgan is looking to clinch.
Mason Morgan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Williams swats away the attempt to clinch by Morgan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Morgan darts in and clinches Williams up against the cage.
Williams tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Morgan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Morgan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Morgan misses with a two punch combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Williams counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Morgan!

Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Morgan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Morgan is desperately trying to improve his position but Williams has a good base and remains in mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mason Morgan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
BOOM! Williams connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Williams avoids the attempt from Morgan to control.

Williams has hold of Morgan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Morgan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Morgan is desperately trying to improve his position but Williams has a good base and remains in mount.

Morgan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Jack Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Morgan closes the distance and clinches.
Williams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Morgan has him pressed against the cage.

Williams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Morgan looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Williams passes into side control.
Morgan on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Williams cracks Morgan with a big right hand but Morgan just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mason Morgan.
Well Morgan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
