Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Saan Shlamel!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arnolf Karstark!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karstark fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Karstark looks to land a combination but Shlamel avoids it well.
A combination from Karstark does no damage.
Arnolf Karstark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Karstark, as that shot connected.


It looks like Saan Shlamel has been cut.
Shlamel stuffs the takedown attempt from Karstark. Karstark gets slowly back to his feet.
Karstark fails to land with a series of punches.
Some wild striking there from Karstark.
Shlamel is looking to counter the offense by Karstark and move into the clinch.
Karstark falls off balance throwing a combination
and Shlamel counters with a slapping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Karstark misses the shot to the body.
Shlamel defending well as Karstark loads up on a big left hand.

Karstark has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Shlamel.

Shlamel closes the distance and clinches.
The referee is keeping an eye on Shlamel - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Shlamel presses Karstark against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Karstark drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shlamel pulls his leg out and moves away.
Saan Shlamel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnolf Karstark.

Karstark closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Shlamel's guard.
Shlamel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shlamel tries to get out of the position.

Karstark is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Shlamel has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A nice inside leg kick there by Shlamel. That's going to slow Karstark down.
Karstark looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Karstark throws a series of punches but Shlamel avoids them all with ease.

Karstark has a takedown stuffed.
Shlamel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Shlamel feints and then cracks Karstark's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karstark down.

Shlamel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Karstark on the ground.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Saan Shlamel's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shlamel connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Karstark's hands.

Shlamel gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shlamel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Karstark postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shlamel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Karstark stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shlamel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Karstark accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Karstark has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Karstark shoots for a takedown but Shlamel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Karstark changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shlamel tries to avoid it but Karstark manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shlamel to the ground. Shlamel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Karstark throws a right and a left that Shlamel avoids nicely.

Shlamel moves into the clinch.
Karstark avoids the elbow strike from Shlamel, against the cage.
Karstark on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Karstark blocking some punches.
Shlamel with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Shlamel lands on the inside with an uppercut.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Shlamel.
Shlamel is pressed up against the cage. Karstark has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Shlamel down to the mat. Shlamel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Saan Shlamel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnolf Karstark.

Shlamel gets caught napping as Karstark dives in and scores a takedown. Shlamel manages to retain guard.
Karstark works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shlamel is refusing to be controlled, as Karstark sits in half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Karstark lands a nice short elbow.
Karstark lands strikes from half guard.
Karstark is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Karstark postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Shlamel looks a forlorn figure.
Karstark pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Karstark lands a heavy elbow.
Oh Shlamel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Karstark lands a big shot to the head and Shlamel winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Arnolf Karstark!
