Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Ryu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ryu as he jumps to the side.
Ryu lands a right hook to the body.
Mullen misses with a combination
and Ryu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mullen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ryu counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ryu throws a series of strikes that have Mullen backpedaling.
Mullen moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Mullen tries for a takedown but Ryu circles away easily
and Ryu counters with a lovely shot to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benjamin Mullen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ryu lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ryu comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Mullen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Mullen doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ryu counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ryu rushes Mullen with punches - Mullen moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Mullen goes down! Ryu follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
