Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Belcher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Merridew!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belcher shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Merridew is trying to defend but Belcher finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Belcher throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Belcher winds up and cracks Merridew with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Belcher is stalling here. Merridew is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Belcher seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Merridew has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belcher accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Belcher drops back, looking for a kneebar! Merridew looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Merridew looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Merridew!

Belcher is looking to regain half guard here but Merridew keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Belcher throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Merridew escapes and throws Belcher's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Belcher is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Belcher takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Merridew counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Belcher tries to score a power double leg takedown but Merridew sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Belcher somewhat.

Belcher shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Merridew but Merridew pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Merridew lands with a nice combination. Belcher backs away looking to recover.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Belcher tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Merridew defends well and Belcher ends up having to push Merridew into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Belcher walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Belcher takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.


Belcher is rocked!
Merridew cracks Belcher with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Belcher tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Merridew pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Belcher is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Merridew!
During a confident post fight interview, Jack Merridew thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
