Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Gorden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Head Bussa as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Gorden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Jones!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones has taken the fight to the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Jones fails to land.
Gorden blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Jones misses with a hook from the clinch.
Jones blocks a body shot from Gorden.
Jones swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Jones effectively controlling the action here.
Jones is trying to maintain a safe position but Gorden gets an underhook and turns Jones into the cage.
Gorden swings wildly with an uppercut but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones is trying to break free.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been informed that Jones has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Gorden looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.
Gorden stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gorden paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gorden. That did some damage!

Jones swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gorden counters with a right hand to the body.
Gorden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gorden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gorden appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Gorden gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage.

Gorden throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Gorden throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jones gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gorden.
Gorden throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Gorden shoots in.

Gorden lands a body shot.
Jones turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Gorden has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jones.
Jones throws a series of punches but Gorden moves out of range.

Gorden swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Jones counters with a nice body shot.
Jones pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Gorden thinks about countering with a head kick.
Gorden walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Jones checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Gorden misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Good work by Gorden as he checks the leg kick.
Gorden keeps the fight on the outside.
Gorden shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Gorden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gorden wants to clinch.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gorden wants to clinch.
Jones throws a front kick aimed at Gorden's knee but Gorden avoids it well.
Jones misses with a double jab
and Gorden counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

and Gorden counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gorden defends it nicely.
Gorden is looking to counter the offense by Jones and move into the clinch.
Gorden tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jones. That's going to slow Gorden down.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones throws a head kick but Gorden moves out of range.
Gorden wants to clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

A close round but Michael Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

BAM! Gorden delivers a spinning backfist that drops Jones like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
