And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frankie Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Darius Henderson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Edgar with that takedown attempt.
A counter left hand to the body from Anderson misses its target.
Anderson scores with a leg kick.
Edgar dives in and grabs Anderson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Anderson pushes down on Edgar's head and hops out.
Edgar shoots in looking for a takedown but Anderson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Edgar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Karl Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frankie Edgar.
Anderson slaps away a takedown attempt from Edgar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Anderson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Anderson wants it to stay on the feet.
Anderson is looking to counter the offense by Edgar and move into the clinch.

Anderson is looking to control Edgar's arms but Edgar gets an underhook and turns him. Now Anderson has his back to the cage.

Anderson seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Edgar is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Edgar on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Edgar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Anderson regains guard immediately.
Edgar has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at The Shield. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Anderson is refusing to be controlled, as Edgar sits in half guard.
Anderson is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Great Bash Heel that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Edgar is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Anderson is looking for a sweep. Edgar is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Edgar goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Anderson turns into him and now he's in Edgar's guard.
Anderson looking to sit in guard and control but Edgar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Edgar passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Anderson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Edgar trying to control the position but Anderson is working away.

Anderson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Edgar moves into full mount! Anderson won't be happy about that!
Anderson can't escape the position.
Edgar controlling from the full mount.
Edgar takes Anderson's back.
Edgar has the hooks in. Anderson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Anderson won't enjoy being in this position. Edgar looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Anderson is tapping - it's over boys! Edgar picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Frankie Edgar!

During a confident post fight interview, Frankie Edgar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
