PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Javian Westmoreland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Ortman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Westmoreland comes to the cage accompanied by creeping death. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Westmoreland tries to keep at a distance but Ortman has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ortman tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Ortman jumps into guard, dragging Westmoreland to the mat.
Westmoreland stopping the sweep attempt from Ortman.
Ortman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ortman is looking to stand up but Westmoreland isn't so interested in that idea.
Ortman keeping moving, preventing Westmoreland from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ortman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Westmoreland controls the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ortman is on top in guard.
Westmoreland looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ortman gets to his feet. Westmoreland looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Westmoreland shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Ortman flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Ortman working to try and regain half guard.
Ortman throwing hammer fists to the chest of Westmoreland. What's that going to do exactly?
Ortman looks gassed!

Westmoreland looking to secure an arm triangle but Ortman defends it well.
Westmoreland is trying to take his opponent's back.

Westmoreland stands up from mount. Strange move.

Westmoreland rushes Ortman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ortman drags the fight down to the ground.
Ortman wants to hit a switch here but Westmoreland passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ortman there!
Ortman throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Ortman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ortman is trying to reverse the position but instead Westmoreland has taken his back - oops!

Ortman tries to escape but Westmoreland has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Ortman controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Ortman turns into Westmoreland and is now in his guard.
Ortman passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Ortman decides to stand back up.
Ortman doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Westmoreland counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Westmoreland is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Westmoreland looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ortman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Westmoreland connects with a nice short shot to Ortman's temple.
Ortman has a hand on Westmoreland's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Westmoreland takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Westmoreland working for a submission but Ortman is keeping him at bay.

Westmoreland stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Westmoreland lands a brutal head kick. Ortman looks out on his feet and Westmoreland throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
