Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Pottsy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dai Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimbo Pottsy had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kimbo Pottsy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dai Jones!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
Pottsy tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily
and Jones counters with a leg kick.
Pottsy with a poor takedown

and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Pottsy's guard now.
Jones wants to control from the top but Pottsy keeps moving.

Pottsy kicks Jones off and gets to his feet.
Jones gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pottsy counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Pottsy is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones gets back to full guard.
Jones is looking to stand back up but Pottsy counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones.
Pottsy is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Jones is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Pottsy pulls his head out easily.
Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pottsy not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Pottsy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Pottsy missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jones drives through and clinches with Pottsy against the cage.
Jones fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Kimbo Pottsy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dai Jones.

Pottsy turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pottsy manages to end up in side control.

Pottsy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pottsy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jones is not content to let Pottsy control the position.
Jones struggling a bit here.
Pottsy lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pottsy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pottsy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jones is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Pottsy just content to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Pottsy throws a combination that misses

and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Pottsy!
Jones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jones tries to control but Pottsy wriggling away.
Pottsy is looking to get to half guard.

Pottsy throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jones. What's that going to do exactly?
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pottsy is looking to escape.
Pottsy wants to control but Jones is having none of it.
Pottsy swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pottsy is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pottsy is working hard here to advance position.

Jones moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Pottsy has worked his arm free - good work by Pottsy!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dai Jones will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pottsy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Pottsy gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones trying to control here.
Jones manages to get to full guard.

Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pottsy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Pottsy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pottsy sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Jones working for a triangle but Pottsy defends it easily.
Pottsy won't allow Jones to sweep him here.
Pottsy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kimbo Pottsy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones is trying to keep Pottsy in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pottsy misses with a few strikes there.

Jones drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Pottsy wants to stand but Jones is controlling the position.
Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Pottsy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pottsy trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones is trying to keep Pottsy in close.

Pottsy lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Pottsy works over Jones with some ground and pound from guard.
Pottsy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Pottsy throwing strikes but missing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
Pottsy keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

Pottsy has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Pottsy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pottsy manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Pottsy in his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dai Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Pottsy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pottsy lands in his opponent's guard.

Pottsy is in close to Jones's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Pottsy throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pottsy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pottsy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones wants to take a breather but Pottsy is having none of it.
Pottsy regains full guard. Nicely done.
Pottsy controls Jones momentarily but Jones frees himself.

Pottsy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pottsy wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it.

Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Pottsy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones stands and steps away. Pottsy gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pottsy throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
Pottsy scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Pottsy.
Jones is looking to clinch.

Pottsy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pottsy is looking to stall here but Jones recovers full guard.
Pottsy wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.
Pottsy showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Pottsy landing some decent shots from guard.
Pottsy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
