The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace throws a head kick that misses.
Wallace cracks the inside of Santiago's front leg.
Wallace will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Santiago takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Marcelo Santiago has been cut.
Wallace throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Santiago fails to land the takedown.
Wallace appears to be looking for a big counter.

Santiago has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Santiago there as he acknowledges the shot.

Bill Wallace is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Santiago shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wallace defends it nicely.
Bill Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Santiago.
Wallace lands with a kick to the temple. Santiago shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
That has opened up Marcelo Santiago's cut even more.
Bill Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wallace throws a sloppy head kick and Santiago moves out of range easily.
Wallace fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Wallace dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Santiago. That did some damage!
Santiago shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wallace defends it nicely.

We've been told by Wallace's head coaches at Broken Arm JiuJitsu and Ground that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Santiago tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wallace swivels and escapes.
Wallace misses with a two punch combination.
Santiago tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Wallace throws a right hand that Santiago ducks under and follows up with a left that Santiago also avoids with ease.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Santiago changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Wallace is breathing heavily.
Santiago closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wallace to the mat! Wallace manages to get full guard.
Santiago advances position into side control!
Santiago has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Wallace is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Santiago yanks on the arm and Wallace is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Santiago.
