PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dorsey Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorsey Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor fails with a takedown attempt.
A little feinted left hand from Morris on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Taylor shoots for a takedown but Morris saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Morris tries to counter with a takedown but Taylor is quick to defend against it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Taylor.
Dorsey Morris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Taylor.
Taylor has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Taylor has Morris up against the cage in a clinch.
Morris drops down looking for an ankle pick but Taylor pulls his leg out and moves away.
Morris stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Morris wants it to stay on the feet.
Morris changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Taylor gets the takedown into side control.
Morris could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Morris pushes Taylor away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Taylor gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Morris can't do much from the bottom here.
Morris is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morris tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Taylor wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Taylor trying to control the position but Morris is working away.
Taylor controls the position.
Morris is trying to buck Taylor off.
Morris is trying to escape the position but Taylor is controlling the position.

Morris is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Taylor shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Morris manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Morris is looking to sweep but instead, Taylor has passed into half guard.
Still in half guard, Taylor seems content to control.
Morris misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Taylor content to control rather than advance.
Morris wants to sweep but Taylor has passed to side control!

Taylor trying to control the action but Morris is working from the bottom.
A lull in the action here as Taylor stalls from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morris is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Taylor has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Taylor shoots in and gets a takedown into Morris's guard.
Morris looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Morris looking for a guillotine here but Taylor defends easily.
Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morris swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Taylor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Taylor dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sloppy strikes from Morris. Those never looked like landing.

Taylor clinches up with Morris and pushes him back against the cage.

Taylor pulls guard effortlessly.

Taylor is looking for a triangle but Morris pushes his legs off easily.
Morris throwing strikes but missing.

Taylor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Taylor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morris lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Taylor is looking to stand up but Morris isn't so interested in that idea.
Morris working some strikes from top position.
Taylor striking off his back but it's not causing Morris any problems.
Morris working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Taylor's head.

Morris thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Taylor keeping moving, preventing Morris from controlling successfully.
Taylor is looking to sweep but instead, Morris has passed into half guard.
Morris sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Taylor defending well though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Taylor tries to roll over but Morris keeps him under control.
Morris lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Morris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Morris is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Taylor has managed to free his arm - good work.
Taylor trying to control but Morris postures up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Taylor closes the distance and clinches.
Taylor prevents a takedown attempt there.
Morris drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Taylor gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Taylor jumps into guard, dragging Morris to the mat.
Morris trying to control the position from guard on top but Taylor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morris chips away with some ground and pound.
Morris stands up over Taylor, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Morris preventing the sweep.
Taylor doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Taylor has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Morris has passed into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Taylor tries to improve position but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dorsey Morris will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Taylor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Morris sprawls well. Morris wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet.
Morris feinted with a counter takedown.
Taylor throws the kick towards the body but Morris avoids it.
Taylor looks for a takedown but Morris sprawls well.
Morris is looking to counter punch.
Taylor fails with a takedown attempt.

Taylor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Morris slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Taylor has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Morris to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Taylor is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Morris pulls down on the head and he's put Taylor to sleep! This one is all over!
