PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ahmed Mohamed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ratrick Obeh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mohamed comes to the cage accompanied by Undead. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Obeh has closed the distance and engaged Mohamed in a clinch.
Mohamed lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Obeh.
Obeh misses with a knee strike.

Mohamed has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Obeh uses from the top position.
Mohamed will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Obeh pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Obeh as Mohamed shoots in.
Obeh stuffs the takedown attempt from Mohamed. Mohamed gets slowly back to his feet.
Obeh goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Obeh throws an elbow that misses.
Obeh's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Obeh has Mohamed pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Obeh pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mohamed tumbling to the mat - Obeh dives into Mohamed's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Obeh wants to stand but Mohamed is controlling his posture from full guard.

Mohamed is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Obeh counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Obeh stands up from Mohamed's guard - Obeh perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mohamed stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Obeh.
Mohamed closes the distance but Obeh moves to the side
and Obeh counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mohamed pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mohamed shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Obeh but Obeh pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horrible takedown by Mohamed or perhaps it was just good defense by Obeh which made him look bad.

Obeh throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mohamed has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Obeh is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mohamed.

Obeh throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Obeh throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Obeh throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Obeh throws a series of punches but Mohamed avoids them all with ease.

A right handed body shot lands from Mohamed.
Obeh presses Mohamed against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Obeh tries to land a knee to the head but Mohamed blocks with his arms.

Mohamed jumps guard and drags Obeh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Mohamed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mohamed is on top in guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Mohamed shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mohamed tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Obeh avoids a strike by Mohamed and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Mohamed's guard! Fantastic escape!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ahmed Mohamed.
I think Obeh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
