Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Stien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyov Kirijenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Stien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Lyov Kirijenko!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Ben Hemmingworth and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stien throws a right hand that Kirijenko ducks under and follows up with a left that Kirijenko also avoids with ease.
Kirijenko connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Stien uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kirijenko.
Lyov Kirijenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stien lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kirijenko backs up against the cage.
Stien blocks a low kick nicely.
Kirijenko misses with a looping left.
Stien has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kirijenko finds it's way round the side to connect with Stien's head.

Stien keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Stien throws a poor cross that misses
and Kirijenko counters with a straight right hand.
Stien slips under a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
An inside leg kick lands from Stien.
Stien looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Stien gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Stien tries to break the clinch but Kirijenko is controlling the position.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Stien misses with the head strike.

Stien has had enough of the clinch but Kirijenko keeps him there for the moment.
A nice left hand lands by Stien.
Stien is pressed up against the cage. Kirijenko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Stien down to the mat. Stien avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kirijenko chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Stien can pounce on him.
Kirijenko throws the kick towards the body but Stien avoids it.

Stien lands a left and a right that send Kirijenko crashing to the mat, dazed. Stien thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Lyov Kirijenko has been cut.
Kirijenko dodges the punch combination from Stien.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stien ducks under a wild hook from Kirijenko.
Kirijenko throws a body punch but Stien moves out of range.

Kirijenko fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stien to the ground. Kirijenko is now in Stien's guard.
Kirijenko looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Stien keeping moving, preventing Kirijenko from controlling successfully.
Kirijenko is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kirijenko lands a couple of elbows.
Kirijenko trying to control but Stien is working from the bottom.
Stien managing to control the position.
Kirijenko slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stien avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kirijenko pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stien is keeping the position for now.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Stien tries to sprawl but Kirijenko drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Stien regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kirijenko.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stien is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Kirijenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kirijenko feints the counter takedown.

Kirijenko shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kirijenko was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kirijenko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kirijenko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lyov Kirijenko will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stien misses with a low kick.
It seemed like Kirijenko was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Stien finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Kirijenko connects with a nice looking jab.
Kirijenko lands a nice shot to the body.

Kirijenko throws out a counter right but Stien avoids it with no problem.

Stien throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kirijenko.
Stien takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kirijenko has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kirijenko goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Stien takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Stien scores with a nice strike.
Kirijenko is still on wobbly legs! Can Stien finish him?
Stien thuds his right hand into Kirijenko's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Stien finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Stien throws a solid leg kick but Kirijenko takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Stien.

Kirijenko stuns Stien with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ben Stien is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Stien looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kirijenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Stien takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Stien swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stien walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Kirijenko scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Kirijenko throws the left hand but Stien avoids the punch easily.
Stien connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Stien tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kirijenko swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kirijenko is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

and Kirijenko counters with a nice uppercut.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kirijenko.

Kirijenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Stien circles away quickly and effectively.

Kirijenko throws a series of punches but Stien moves out of range.

Stien tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Stien rattles Kirijenko with a well-timed uppercut counter. - Kirijenko tries to back away and recover but his hands are down low and he gets tagged again, sending him stumbling down to the canvas. Stien dives in after him and quickly finishes the job with a trio of brutal punches, leaving Kirijenko stiff and motionless on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ben Stien!
