Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jackson Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, John Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Martinez, pushing him back against the cage.
Anderson blocks an elbow strike from Martinez.
Martinez is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Anderson working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Martinez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Anderson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Anderson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Anderson wants the takedown. Martinez is fighting it off but Anderson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Martinez's guard against the cage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.

Martinez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily.
Martinez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Martinez keeping moving, preventing Anderson from controlling successfully.

Martinez has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martinez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but Martinez is retaining full guard.
Martinez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Anderson manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Martinez tries to pass to full mount but Anderson defends it.
Martinez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Anderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Martinez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Anderson's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Martinez is working for a kimura but Anderson is defending it quite comfortably.
Martinez with the ground and pound but Anderson uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Anderson kicks Martinez off and gets back to his feet.

Anderson avoids the head kick by Martinez.

Martinez throws a sloppy head kick and Anderson moves out of range easily.

Martinez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Martinez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Martinez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Martinez is looking to work some ground and pound but Anderson has wrist control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez is pushing down on Anderson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Anderson is fighting to maintain full guard but Martinez has managed to sneak the leg through.

Martinez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Anderson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Anderson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Martinez goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Anderson turns into him and now he's in Martinez's guard.

Martinez is looking to sweep but instead, Anderson has passed into half guard.
Martinez manages to get to full guard.
Martinez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Martinez is looking for a triangle but Anderson pushes his legs off easily.
Anderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Martinez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Anderson rolls with it to try and escape but Martinez cranks on the arm and Anderson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
