Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, George Gilbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Owen Glyde!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glyde throws out a loose jab but Gilbert uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gilbert checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
It looked like Gilbert wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Glyde throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gilbert shoots in and drives through. Glyde sprawls well.
Glyde lands with a shot to the body.
Glyde throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Gilbert counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've been hearing reports that Gilbert has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Gilbert uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Glyde.
Gilbert connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Glyde throws a body kick that misses.
Glyde lands with a right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

No joy there for Glyde, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Glyde lands a nice hook to Gilbert's body. Gilbert takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Owen Glyde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Glyde swings for the body but Gilbert moves out of range.

It looked like Gilbert was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Glyde swings for the body but Gilbert moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Glyde as Gilbert shoots in.
Gilbert shoots in looking for a takedown. Glyde tries to sprawl out of it but Gilbert keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Glyde manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Gilbert. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Glyde wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Gilbert walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Glyde shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Gilbert throws a nice looking combination but Glyde bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Gilbert shoots in for a takedown but Glyde shows good takedown defense.

Glyde is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Gilbert rather than just go for the knockout.
Gilbert changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Glyde tries to avoid it but Gilbert manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Glyde to the ground. Glyde escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Glyde swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A bone on bone clash there as Gilbert blocks the leg kick.
Gilbert has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gilbert there as he acknowledges the shot.
Glyde lands with a good body shot.
Glyde misses with an uppercut. Gilbert saw that one coming.
Glyde looks to land a left hand but Gilbert moved out of range nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Gilbert on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Glyde fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gilbert moves out of range as Glyde throws a body kick.

Nice body kick from Glyde.
Glyde throws a predictable looking body shot
and Gilbert counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gilbert closes the distance and clinches up with Glyde, looking for a takedown. Gilbert pushes Glyde against the cage but Glyde circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Glyde has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
Glyde misses with a hook.
Glyde throws a right and a left that Gilbert avoids nicely.
Glyde scores with a leg kick.
A big right from Glyde misses.
Gilbert is looking for a counter combo.
Glyde fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gilbert fails with a takedown attempt.

Glyde lands a big uppercut and Gilbert crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Gilbert looks OK. Glyde waves Gilbert back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Glyde's corner calls for a 1-2. Glyde obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.


Gilbert is rocked!
Glyde throws a monster overhand right that drops Gilbert! Glyde follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Owen Glyde!
Owen Glyde decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
