PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randy Dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bradley Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dragon comes to the cage accompanied by Whiskey in the Jar. Randy Dragon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randy Dragon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Bradley Franco!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon misses with a wild combination.
Franco unleashes a big counter combination but Dragon bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Dragon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Franco has managed to clinch.

Franco is trying to trip Dragon. He has hold of a leg but Dragon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Franco persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Franco not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Franco drops back looking for a leg! Dragon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dragon manages to kick Franco off! Franco jumps back into Dragon's guard.
Franco is in close to Dragon's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franco controlling from the top position.

Dragon wants to stand up but Franco is controlling him.

Franco stands up from Dragon's guard - Franco perhaps looking for a knockout.

Franco scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Franco content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Franco lands a decent elbow from side control.

Franco decides to take the fight back to the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dragon throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Franco counters with a shoot takedown. Dragon fights it but they end up in guard.

Dragon is working an open guard so Franco takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Franco shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dragon's guard.
Dragon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dragon is breathing heavily.

Franco stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Franco throws a hook but Dragon avoids it easily.
Dragon shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Franco sprawls well. Franco wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dragon gets slowly back to his feet.

Franco closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dragon quickly recovers to half guard.
Franco winds up and cracks Dragon with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Franco lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Franco takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Franco stands up and beckons Dragon to join him on the feet.

Franco instigates a clinch.
Franco is trying to pull guard but Dragon has him pressed against the cage.
Dragon wants to break the clinch but can't.

Franco breaks from the clinch.

Franco manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Dragon on his heels. He'll look to pass Dragon's guard now, I'm sure.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Franco's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Franco works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dragon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Franco scores with a couple of nice shots.
Franco frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Franco has hold of Dragon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dragon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Franco connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dragon is bucking up trying to escape but Franco cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franco lands a heavy elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradley Franco dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dragon misses with a leg kick

and Franco counters with a takedown into side control.
Franco passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Dragon!
Franco lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dragon hang on?

Franco stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Franco tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Randy Dragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dragon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Franco is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Dragon with a body shot.

Franco fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dragon, pushing him back against the cage.
Dragon is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Dragon looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dragon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Franco has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dragon uses from the top position.
Franco is controlling Dragon's posture.

Franco has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dragon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Franco scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Franco shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dragon's guard.

Franco content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Franco gets to his feet - Dragon follows without any prompting.
Dragon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Franco counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Franco keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Franco moves nicely into side control.
Dragon taking punishment in the form of punches.

Franco is trying to get an arm triangle but Dragon is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Dragon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Franco working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Franco has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Franco has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Dragon!

Franco is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dragon can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dragon is rocked!
Franco is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Oh Dragon is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Franco postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Dragon in real trouble here! The ref calls for Dragon to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bradley Franco!
