Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between William Figueiredo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Olivieira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olivieira has chosen POWER as his entrance music. The key to victory for William Figueiredo has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Figueiredo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles Olivieira!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figueiredo misses with a series of wild punches.
Figueiredo moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Figueiredo misses with a body shot.
Figueiredo tries a head kick but it misses.
Olivieira unleashes a big counter combination but Figueiredo bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Figueiredo has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olivieira fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Figueiredo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Figueiredo is keen to just control but Olivieira is a slippery customer.

Olivieira is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Olivieira is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Figueiredo is defending well.

Olivieira has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Figueiredo uses from the top position.

Figueiredo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Olivieira on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Figueiredo is trying to trip Olivieira. He has hold of a leg but Olivieira is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Figueiredo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Olivieira is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Figueiredo dives into side control.

Olivieira felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Figueiredo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Figueiredo lands in his opponent's guard.

William Figueiredo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Figueiredo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Olivieira has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Figueiredo has his opponent's back but Olivieira is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Figueiredo.
Charles Olivieira has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
William Figueiredo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Figueiredo drives through with a takedown into guard.

William Figueiredo showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Figueiredo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
